Get a good lawyer. The best advice that can probably be given.

$2,750 fine to the driver and probably loss of job.

    $10,000 fine to company.

but let us know so that we can all know for sure. cuz i've heard it may vary by state, but i've also heard that it may be a ladder fine. increases with each violation.

I'm amazed at many truck drivers I still see driving down the road with a cell phone stuck up to their ears.

No use of a cell phone is pretty cut and dry.

If you knew ahead of time there is only one exception that can save a driver. You are allowed to use the cell phone to call 911. If you thought ahead of time you could of hung up and called 911 immediately reporting a fictitious bad driver.

This would of done two things... that cop would of got that call and his attention diverted or you would of had an excuse/evidence if he pulled you over instead.

But you were caught red handed and have to face the music. I would think your only plea is for leniency. Being a fairly new rule they like to set examples.

It is in your company's best interest to get a good attorney to fight this. So if you haven't told them I would tell them asap.
