What stuff are we supposed to keep track of? Im just finishing up finding recipe’s from 2021 and I’m remembering people talk about keeping track of stuff. Cost per mile always seemed intriguing to me because that would be cool to know. Anything else a new owner op should keep a record of or write down on a computer?
    TIA

Literally every penny you spend on the road and for the truck needs to be categorized and accounted for.

Everything… I have a Excel spreadsheet with 5 tabs full of crap for every year. Update a few times a week.

Date, odometer start/end, customer, paid miles, load pay, paid or not, actual miles ran, running yearly paid CPM and all-in CPM, every fuel transaction including date, gallons, IFTA amount and discount amount, and every single cent for profit and loss categorized in tax categories for the accountant.
