Are they just taking pictures or are they checking the speed ? Ever wonder if its just a high powered scope to peer inside of the car to see what the driver is doing or maybe to see if it's a female or male driver. I mean jokingly but technical at the same time, You could do what ever you want while sitting there in a high powered blue demon special waiting for your next date to arrive, ie. Tickets to give or other. Let the conspiracy theories begin on this one. DMus
When i worked at the sheriffs office FHP showed me a device that looked like binoculars. It would zoom in about 1/2 a mile down the road. They said it showed your speed, and they could see if you were wearing a seat belt or not and if you were fooling around with a handheld cellphone. But that was about it. Said it worked off laser for speed indication.
Our company is starting to issue orange seatbelt covers after a rash of bogus seatbelt fines (or so the drivers say anyway). I always wear a black shirt so I know my seatbelt would be hard to see even through I always have it on when I'm driving.
A "Kojack with a kodak" is a cop running radar. "A bear taking pictures" is the same thing. Back in the early days of cb's in trucks, Kojack was a cop on the tv in the 70's. A radar gun was referred to as a camera. "Cop with a camera" was heard a lot back then also. Kojack/cop, kodak/camera.
No kiddin and I thought I was the only person that ever watched the Maud Squad, Kojack, Berretta, or Starsky and Hutch, My dad was a trucker many moons ago. Most truckers are clueless to a "donut and a twinkie with blue icing at the split" We still powder coat it, just now its different times with different lingoes. DMus
