I am subscribed to "Internet Truck Stop" and "TruckersEdge", but I am open to try new ones, someone at truck stop mention about a Load board that is easy to use and the best paying destinations are marked with Red color. What is the name of this board?
Nobody is publishing the 'best paying destinations', so there's no way that they can be marked in red. Most loads don't have rates published, and the ones that do aren't always correct, and are never the best rate that you can squeeze out of the broker. ITS and TE were the only two I ever used. They're all you need.
The new ITS gives you a table which isn't right when you see the same load listed 6 or 7 times negotiation strength is all screwed up. Dat has the states that are hot but its not in the basic subscription.
Dat "hot states" is all but worthless. It is just a bar graph of load:truck ratios for each state as of Monday morning. The ratio of incoming to outgoing loads, something you can determine yourself using the map view, basically gives you that same information but with current data.
There is no easy way to make money in this business. Your best bet is to determine what certain lanes pay at what times of year and to what destinations. Also it depends on the day of the week and what the truck demand is. Everyone is trying to play the same game. Over time you will figure out, for example, it might be a good idea to have an empty reefer available to load in Cali on a thursday or a friday and ready to go to points far east during certain months of the year ... which ones? If I knew I would tell you. I don't run that area however. However, I do run into Hunt's Point in NYC through the summer. They close at 3 pm Friday and open Sunday night. Guess what that means? At the end of the week, they are doing their ordering from the growers and are expecting their produce to arrive for early the next week. When it gets closer to crunch time they will either pay more to move their product or they won't get their product. They always cough up. Now combine that with the harvest times of certain states, and now you stand a better chance of making money. Learn from everything around you ... Oh yeah, and don't haul anything for less than market rates. If you want to get back to a certain area you are far better off doing multiple shorter loads and driving empty a bit rather than taking some garbage load for peanuts all the way across again.
