Quick question, If you were to buy a dump truck for local work (tri-axle), would you buy a steel body or aluminum? Either truck your going to limit what kind of work you can do effectively. I'm just curious what ya'll think. thanks.

I would buy a steel bed.

An aluminum bed is an advantage if you are going to get paid by the ton.

Steel beds are more versatile. You will be able to use your truck on a vast variety of job sites.

I think you will be far less limited if you go with a steel bed.

That's what I was thinking myself, the only thing I couldn't haul with the steel bed would be coal, and it's harder to get that work around here anyhow.

My fahter and brother have 1 steel and 1 alum body and they both stand up about the same, the alum dump has a liner on the floor and half way up and have never had an issue with it. They haul everything from sand and gravel to stone, stumps and rip rock/large rock. If your going to haul alot of lagre rock or demo i would definatly go with steel but for everyday general construction alum will work just fine and save some wieght.
