I'm thinking about finding something local or salary in Phoenix or LA areas (maybe the cold is getting to me).
What kind of pay are you all seeing out there?

You're looking at $12-$20 hr, depending on company. There is higher pay, but coming in off the street, it will take you awhile to reach it. Overtime is normally paid at regular time. Truck companies get out of it by claiming if they deliver any freight that has been or will be from an interstate shipment, they fall under Federal guidelines.

Around PHX you'll get anywhere from $12 to $18 ph with some OT. It's slim pickins out here for a decent local gig. The LTL co's advertise that they are hiring but non have called any of my friends that have applied to them back. They were well qualified too. If you have experience with heavy haul them you'll make better money, but those jobs are few and far between.
