I’m currently hauling Frac sand in south Texas and live just north of San Antonio in a small town called Cibolo.I want to transition to a different kind of trucking but I’m not 100 percent certain on what type of trucking I want to do.What I do know is that I want to be home on weekends or at least every other weekend. Most of my commercial driving has been in the oilfield with the exception of six years that I had a hotshot and did enjoy an open deck so I have been leaning towards flatbed hauling. What do you guys suggest?

if you want good pay and less trouble but staying on a stable tether and under a big umbrella pull tankers, if you want to diy all yourself with absolutely zero limits to what you can pull or do start flatbed. can't be very solo pulling tankers, flatbed you can put literally anything on it. even tanks!

Everyone's suggestion is based on where they live. I'm in the SE (Tennessee) and van is great here. No way I'd fool with flatbed. Too much work. From the little I know if you live in Texas you're probably best off in the oilfield or pulling flatbed because so much equipment moves in and out of TX.

Yeah flatbed and Texas are a good match. Surprising how few trucks in Texas are pulling boxes. Most of the country you drag a box into a truckstop and it's no big deal because it's mostly boxes in there, but you bring a box to a truckstop in Texas and realize yours is the only one in the whole parking lot, and you start to feel a little self-conscious, lol.

suspect goody box is suspect in region where everything is suspect. flatbed they
    1. can see it
    2. can't carry it
    3. don't need it
    4. won't steal it

don't forget to check that fifth wheel
