Looking for advice, should i give this up

OK, i have been working for werner (possibly my first mistake) and have just gotten in my third "accident". One 3 inch hole in the outers skin of a trailer, one cracked fender on a guy who parked in the drivelane of a lot with his hood up, and one brake lockup from an air leak (i had reported) multiple mechanics told me was safe.

Yes, i am new, i do not know much, and my trainers used me as a second log book and forgot most of the actual training. I have no convictions other then parking tickets, one accident four years prior to this, but only six months driving experiences counting my company training.

Should i try to find trucking work if i am fired, and where. Or should i wait three years (i was told this was how long it takes dac to clear) and then try for trucking again. Or are there other things you can do with a CDL class A where this is less of a problem then i looks right now?

 

Companies go back 10 years.

 

Do you not pay attention?

Slow down, Swing wide, And be aware of your surroundings. If you can't do that, then you won't be trucking long.

 

Ok, slowing down, swinging wide ( technically wide swing is how the fender happened, but i am still listening). After that , what?

Wow, 3 "accidents" in 6 months. Maybe this career is not for you. It seems like after the description of the incidents it would appear that you have no idea about where the corners and edges of your truck are. Have you had spacial relation issues in the past? It may just be a matter of working on practicing with traffic cones.

If you are looking for advice..,I THINK in your guts you know what to do..,It sucks being a so-called grown-up...,but here"s the deal,-you, me,and everyone else over (at the most 20 yrs old)has to do this....IF you DECIDE to keep drivin the Big Rigs,my advice is stay away from all the Mega-carriers,find a small one,be upfront with them about your driving concerns,(you have to have em)and drive on.,and good luck to you...
