Hello Everyone ! Driver Solutions ..... has anyone heard of them ? Well, I have and applied for work to them from 1 of the trucking companies that's listed with Driver Solutions. PAM, USA, & Averitt are the trucking firms that use DS. I'm suppose to start training school on Mon next week, lasting 3 weeks in classroom / range and 1-2 weeks on road with trainer. I currently have a CDL B license and just upgrading to an A and have been told by DS rep that I may not need much training. PAM trucking is the company I will be working for. I've read some of the Threads on here about PAM and don't see much good about them. I tried for USA & Averitt, but DS rep said they couldn't get me into them. I'm just the average guy, hard working, tax paying with no funds to furnish an outside school. ( Trucking co pays most of schooling costs ) I have to sign on for 1 year, repay part of costs. Can someone give me some insight on all this. Thanks !
If you've already signed on the dotted line, you'll just have to do your time and keep your nose clean. Put your year or two in and start applying to more reputable companies, good luck.
you want real good advice keep your b, c. d. l., and find local work, i know that with todays economy, that may be hard to do, if you have children, don,t do it !!,if you are single it is a good stepping stone.trucking is not for everyone, esp. those who have no pacients, if your laid back you will be fine, keep both eyes wide OPEN, and learn,it,s not a over night, occupation, it takes time to be a real trucker, what ever you decide i wish you well i drove for over 20,yrs.and up to my retirement i was still learning. be safe WOODSTOCK
It may not be too late! If you haven't signed with PAM you don't have to go there. Don't believe the reps either, companies are looking for drivers all of the time. Sometimes you may have to use the Backdoor approach but it works. Call the companies that you are interested in directly, they know what to ask you, and what they are looking for. The Rep probably wasn't getting as big a commission as he might have liked, so he is steering you for his own gain. He surely isn't doing it because he's a NICE GUY. Good Luck, hope it's what you're expecting.
