M-Drive) do you really think it is US product? Ha ha! find the difference! Blue is Volvo I-Shift, Red is M-Drive. Seems to me they used one snapshot. And they did recoloring with Photoshop!!!
interesting here no one likes older renault/mack engines , after that some people start to buy renaults
It was the new M-Drive. It was like driving an automatic car. You could barely even feel the shifts, but that is the bouns to buying a engine/trans that are manufactured to SPECIFICALLY work together rather than building a trans (eaton) that can be put onto any motor. Eaton uses a stand-alone computer as where the M-Drive uses the engine's ECM and is able to adjust based on 200 different parameters or somehting like that.
OH, I don't doubt it is the EXACT same transmission, but as I just said before, it performed flawlessly for me and is much better than the Eaton product produced here in the US. I don't see a big difference between an auto and a manual unless you are doing heavy haul or in constant stop-n-go traffic (where the auto would be nice, but the manual will hold up better)
does mack offer any special software for this gearbox since mack is very popular as tipper truck or in construction and off road here almost all manufactures offers something called off-road mode which change gearshift strategy , change gearchange speed(shifts much faster) while you are off road..... also different handling with clutch
i honestly can't answer that, as this is the 1st Mack i have ever looked at buying. Honestly, it was very very nice, but the $135k price tag has me wondering if it's worth it or not as the re-sell value is not that great. I don't plan on getting rid of it for a good 5 years, but I can get a fully loaded up Peterbilt 389 for about the same price and they seem to sell MUCH MUCH better in the long run..... and I can't even decide if I WANT to spend $130k+ in the first place.
About M-drive and I-shift. It is second gen. I-Shift with coaxial clutch servo. Clutch valves are on right side of transmision, sensor is in bellhousing. There are 5 versions of 12 and 16 st transmissions made in the same box. All transmissions are made by Volvo Powertraine, and they say they lainch USA tranny assembly plant this year. Before they imported all. Off road software is used on Mack Construction series, Volvo VHD, Volvo FMX, Mack Quantum construction, Renault Kerax, Renault Premium lander. What really differ? Yep! Shifters in cab! But all they are interchangable. Mack Loves pushbutton design, Volvo shifter is like of car... Connectors of shifters look different, but all they have bat.power, ign. power, J1708 and J1939! That's all. But pay attention that Volvo shifters may be of 12/24V version.
