I got a call from Salem, I've been approved :biggrin_25520: I guess I'm being processed and will get a call back to let me know my next step.

I didn't apply to any other companies, because I knew after reading through this forum that May is the one I wanted to go with. :biggrin_25519:
I'll keep you all updated and give you a heads-up when I find out anything.

I'm assuming the orientation will be in Salem, since it's fairly close to me.
Hopefully it will be soon, next week I hope.

Congrats on making the next step. Orientation will be in Brooks at their main terminal. Just up the road from Salem. Exit 263 across from the pilot.

    CAM Thanks this.

It's a good company to be with. I've been with them for over 2 yrs. I almost left recently and decided to stay after all. A lot of changes coming to the company soon and they sound good. Lots of the older equipment looks like to be going away. You'll like it here. Just be aware there a slow times and just to deal with them. if you have any, ANY, problems talk to your DM. They will help you out. Don't listen to a lot of the crap said out there, it's 99.9% BS. Most of the other drivers out there respect us a lot more than Swift or Werner. If you have any problems feel free to ask Trucker Steve or myself or any other May driver you can find on here or get on the Ask A May trainer thread for help. Good luck with time at May, hope to see you out there.

Oh and tell Opal I said hi!!

    Thanks jedi_tev for the response,
I'm waiting on a call, I called Brooks Friday, they said Opal would be calling me by Wednesday, which would be today. I'm not waiting I'll call them this morning sometime.
This sitting around waiting for the phone to ring drives me crazy :biggrin_25526: but I guess I'd better get used to it, I imagine I might do a lot of setting waiting on loads.
This May thread is great! I really appreciate everyone here that has taken time to answer newby questions that I'm sure you've answered many times before.
Hope to see you out there as well,
Hey Brothers stay safe out there and be Blessed!

Well, you don't want to be sitting waiting on loads, if your wheels aren't turning, you're not making money. SO, if you're sitting you'll need to talk to your DM. Your trainer will go over all that with you.

    CAM Thanks this.

Sitting and waiting is never fun. Unless you are doing a reset in Vegas :) It will happen, but hopefully good planning on your part and getting that PTA in on time will keep you rolling.

Good for you! I have been with May since August of '10 and have nothing but good to say about them. For the record, I owned an automotive repair facility for 15 years and sold the business in April of 2010. I have employed many technicians over the years, I know what is expected of an good employee. That is: understand your "box", i.e. your job duties and do them without complaint. Sometimes the jobs sucks but someone has to take care of the problem, that may just be you. Once your DM sees that you are a stand-up individual and gets the job done, not someone who ####### about everything, the better runs will come your way. I have had dispatches from 37 miles to 2700 miles. Recently from CA to Orlando, back to Oregon, then WA to Philly, Pittsburgh to CO. The fewer docks I bump, the better... ;-)
    As said, Just-Get-Yer-Done...
