Looks like I go to Dunkin Donuts and Subway on Sundays for my "Meal of Kings" (Yes, college food is that bad). But back on topic, it just shows that people don't care about their employees anymore

    Texas-Nana Thanks this.

Good for you LS. I'm looking into how to start a national boycott. I've run local ones before but never a national one. It's the only way to get vulture's attention, hit them in the pocket book.

While I share Nana's disgust with this story, I'm also inclined to agree with the McDonald's corporation. However, I don't see any reason why the franchise owner of this McDonald's couldn't take care of these medical bills and any lost wages suffered by the young hero in this story. I'm no expert in the understandings of what happens when you buy a McDonald's franchise, but it seems to me that the owner of said franchise should be more responsible towards his employees.

Also, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to join in on any boycott of McDonald's. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. I love me some Mack-donald's, by golly.

I can see what this will cause. Next time the employees will just stand around and do nothing except call the police and watch someone possibly get killed next time. It probably cost Mcdonalds more to make this decision than to just give him his comp. With the times of the Economy being so horrible Mcdonalds is one the the few corporations that have acutually had increases in revenue for the last 2 years. They may not have been liable to the workers comp. But they could have done the right thing and gave him his claim. Then they coulda had alot of positive press coverage instead of negative. They played this whole situation wrong. I guess the safety of the patrons I.E. the people that spend the money is not in the scope of his jobs duties according to the micky ds spokespeople. Guess public opinion is no longer a factor in good business.

Now, many have wondered here on the forum, why people choose to not get involved?

So out of habit I pulled into a McD's today and ordered. Then realized what I'd done. When I got to the window I asked for the manager and then told him why I didn't want my order. I said I'd pay for it and guess what.......he said "No Ma'am I'm happy to put the food back and not charge you for it. What corporate is doing is absolutely wrong. May I get your name so I can pass it along with the other names of protesting customers?"
