haven't participated in it, but i can tell you it is GI bill money. up to 2 years worth. have to have been discharged within the last 10 years. money comes to you from the va, so it's tax free.

So you wouldn't use it? Why if you aren't using it for nothing else.

Personally, no I would not use it for that. What I am merely suggesting is you give it some serious thought before you use your GI Bill for this purpose. Are you going to get a "Jouneyman's" card when your "apprenticeship" is complete? Will you "apprentice" under a "Journeyman Trucker" for the next two years? Do you have to log "X" amount of hours for specific evolution as your work through your "Apprenticeship". Do you send this log to the VA or Department of Labor? Who is going to be with you to observe you accomplishing those evolutions and sign them off as complete? Will you be more competitive in the drivers arena because of this? Whats in it for TMC? Do you still draw the same revenue % that a driver not in this program draws?

My point is weigh all of your options..... while school may not seem interesting to you now, that may not be the case in the years to come. Make a "pro's and con's" list and get it on paper so you can see the results of using it for this or not. Ask others to assist.

When I was 24 college was the last thing on my list.... I was stationed in Hawaii and too busy chasing tale and going to the beach down in Waikiki every weekend. Things change (like I got old....LOL) and I am grateful for this benefit. I am using it now to earn a degree that I can put to good use within the trucking industry.

Whichever your choice, best of luck to you and I thank you for your Service.

You are quite welcome. Give them (TMC) a call and get the particulars as to how the program works.

Once you get your feet wet within the industry and get comfortable running your truck, you could aways take a few business courses, ect. That could pay off down the road in the event you decide to make a go of it on your own.
