Does anyone on here work for Millis or Prime? Looking for some insight from experienced drivers. Waiting to hear back from both companies now, and would really like to make an "educated" choice. Looking to hopefully get the pros/cons of both companies!
I work for Millis. Almost finished my year committment and im not yoing anywhere. Both companies have good training programs. We rarely run West of I35 but on occasion we do. Im going to make over $50k my first year at Millis im happy! Prime has tanker, flat and reefer we haul dryvan and haul ALOT of beer.
whats the issue Millis is a good company I have A CDLl with only two months experience and was accepted tuesday in three hours from submitting my application, their putting cameras in the trucks and the 500 I need to pre pay is all thats holding me up?? Prime is very selective.. they push you into lease operator real hard...??
I'm waiting to hear back from Alice now on my application .Was hoping you could give me a little insight on what it might be like, the training experience, pay during training, etc. I've read the company website and a couple posts on here, but thought it might be better to hear from an actual company driver. Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
Im on my phone forgive the lack of spacing. I trained in Trenton OH and the school is very professional and its one of our terminqls so youll get to talk to a ton of drivers. Class size is small and youll receive tons of hands on experience. Hotel was nice and has everything you need within walking distqnce if not lazy. I trained with a trainer who has 26 years experience and never left the jump seat but very rarely. I havent heard of many trainees with terrible issues with trainers. Students make $72 a day they drive over 4.5 hours i believe. Not a ton but better than most. Must have 15k miles behind the wheel before testing out solo. From that point ive been treated with respect, had prompt responses to my qualcomm kessages at all times and only gotten home late once and my dispatcher really did do all he could. My miles are consistent and the checks have been nice for a new driver $833,778,851 bring home last three checks. Im on the perdiem HHG mileage option without healthcare and make $.32 cent a mile plus bonuses and get a two cent raise this month and i believe three weeks vacation next year. Equipment is as good as your going to get at any company, well maintained. No APUs though. If you see me around stop me. Michael trk#2148
Yes Prime has a lease program. You will hear that we have one during orientation... and that will be the last you hear of it, unless you ask questions. It's not "pushed" by anyone. No cameras in trucks. What's with $500 you "need to pre pay?"
Millis does things a little different when you need Training you Pre pay $ 500.00 up front for hotel and I think Drug test in case you fail.... Cameras are big issue with me though.. excuse the upside down M.s
At Prime your meals and boarding while off the truck are covered completely by the company. If you're short of cash, they will advance you $200 per week (you're not required to take the money) when you're on the road with an instructor- you pay it back $25 per week after you're hired when you get your CDL. $600 per week before taxes after than until you finish training. Stay with Prime 1 year after you are solo-qualified, and all costs for training are forgiven.
And also Millis has way way way way better home time than prime. Prime is one of those old fashioned outfits that doesn't believe in much home time for drivers.
