I still want to see it make a comeback in pickup trucks. Autos just aren't fun.

My girlfriend had a Mini that was a stick, 5 speed I think, don't remember for sure. One time we went someplace and had to take that little clown car thing, after about 5 minutes she told me to pull over and she drove. I couldn't get it out of my head to stop double clutching... it wasn't pretty.

I like simplicity. Less computers and moving parts usually means better reliability.

Yup, me and a few friends are currently converting an old 1940s chevy master and a dodge power wagon we pulled out of a field into offroaders (engines were missing and a lot of damage to the bodys so not worth actual restores). I also have a line on a 40s pete im going to try and buy when im not broke and convert into an offroader too. We want to do the SLC to moab and back offroad run and maybe run upto alaska and do a few of the longer 400+ mile trails there. Was going to restore the master but its too far gone.

Guessing because the Auto Industry BEGAN with Stick, it needs RETURN TO STICK!!
Sad part is there are too many young and older babies that don hav ani idear how ta shift a straight drive.
Only shifting they know is their tails in seats.

who really wants a straight drive when there's that Constantly Variable Trashmission.

    A 2 speed Slip-n-Slide would eliminate that c-v-trap.

My truck and my car had R and top gear in the opposite position. After two weeks out I almost slammed my car into reverse while trying to pass another car. I did witness a Nissan Sentra once slam it into reverse while trying to pass severa cars and still make an off-ramp. I thought it was going to flip trunk over hood.

While I was growing up the main advantage I saw in standards was fuel economy, or if the car was under-powered.

Once the autos evolved to lock up torque converters most of that argument went away. Cause everything else in the car had evolved for the better also.

For performance I had a preference for manual shifting the autos or autos with paddle/slap shifting. Tried not to get myself in a position to need those while on the street.
