So I got a pre hire from werner this week and I called the recruiter tonight to set up an orentation date. Well he was going through questions asking if I've ever had DUI, felony, etc. When I said "oh yeah, about 4 or 5 years ago I got a minor consumption"; right there he stopped me and said he would have to send it to the review board. WTF!!!!!!!! Am I not going to get hired? I really want to work for this carrier. I'm stressing out a lot. Is my future flushed down the toilet? After the conversation I looked up about minor consumtions and in my state and its a petty misdemeanor not even really a crime. I should have never said anything but I figured I should be honest. Apparently they don't want anything alcohol related in the last 10 years. What do you all think?

Its best to be honest, or else once you got there, you would have been sent home anyway. They do find these thngs out. Any type of drinking or drug charges will hurt your chances, but you should get by this one depending on the company. I would definately put in more apps and keep trying. But ABSOLUTELY be honest about it.

    I don't know why you're so surprised.
Most companies won't touch you with ANY alchohol
related offense on your MVR within the last 5 years.
    That policy is nothing new.
There are a few outfits that don't care but I wouldn't
waste my time with them anyway.
If you don't get on with Werner it's no great loss.
I wouldn't run for them on a bet or a dare.
Every driver I've talked to there jumped ship sooner than later.
They have no breakdown, layover, or detention pay for drivers.
If you get stuck all day & night at a shipper/receiver it's on you.
If you breakdown and hafta wait all day for repairs it's on you.
You better throw that dart again bud.
    Good luck.

You were a minor consuming alcohol? Get the offense erased via a lawyer. Then get it off you DAC. That is where they found it.

Werner is known to get info they shouldn't have access to.

go with swift...i have almost a year exp and i contacted werner....i think they smoke crack in there. when he asked for the guys phone number i gave it to him and first thing out of his mouth is this a cell phone...uhhh yah why? well we cant verify your employment by a cell phone....so i proceded to tell him that the guy aint big enough to hire somebody to sit on their ### all day and answer a phone he drives and does our dispatching and all...so to make a long story short he told me i would have to do 8 weeks with a trainer....so i went on to ask him if it was due to the fact that their trainers needed to learn how to drive or the fact that i needed to learn how to be a bone head truck driver? aint heard from them since and aint losing any sleep over it

IMO you are screwed. You need to get that conviction sealed or removed. Spend some money on a lawyer. Or your school is a waste in most cases. Your school should have asked about your convictions.

I still got the approval. There was no vehicle involved but they still wanted to know because it was alcohol related.

I wouldn't be too stressed out about Werner, Trust me they will never stress out about you. Don't waste your energy. Even if minor consumption is minor offense, it is still major in the trucking industry. Good luck!
