The time to make noise is now. From Landline online:

FMCSA’s proposal about requiring speed limiters on most commercial motor vehicles officially published in the Federal Register on Wednesday, May 4. Truck drivers and the general public now have 30 days to provide feedback.

The rulemaking would propose that most interstate commercial motor vehicles be speed limited. Commercial motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 26,001 pounds or more and that are equipped with an electric engine control unit capable of being governed would be subject to the mandate. A speed had not been determined, but previous proposals floated the possibilities of 60, 65 or 68 miles per hour.

I think when the country literally stops, it will be a good time to get rid of the e logs too.

    Six. Six thousand. LOL

With insurance and plates, permits, means you wake up everyday for the next 5 years going," I need to make $8500 this month before I buy a drop of fuel, or squirrel away a penny for maintenance.

I'm absolutely against this mandate but I can't think of a good argument why. I drive primarily 2 lanes so just saying I want to speed probably won't cut it. Congestion and all that I'd a good reason against but what else you got? Would like a good comment

Why speed limiters a not just a national truck speed limit? Years ago you’d be an outlaw running 65 when the national speed limit was 55. Seems states will be losing revenue from speeding tickets..

Sadly they’ve been pushing this for years and I strongly believe it’ll become law this time around. Mainly because it was brought back up in a bipartisan (1 Democrat and 1 Republican) proposal.

My only question now is, if this goes through on an uninterrupted course..how long before we will have to turn down our trucks? Anyone have an idea..6 months, a year?

Just planning my retirement since there’s no way I’m going to comply. No way I’m pushing myself driving 11 hours a day to make up the lost miles.. No way I have capacity to relay loads to make tight schedules. No way I’m rolling in packs of Prime and Swift trucks..

Personally I believe that there needs to be an uprising now by every O/O, small independent carriers and every 65 mph company driver who has the dream of their own company.

It’s now or never, stand up, organize or be left rolling in your own vomit.

A million trucks parked silently for a week or two ought to do it.

They’re probably not worried about $4k repair bills.
