I'm picking up a truck next week. I'd like to drive my car down there and tow it back on a U Haul tow dolly. Is there rental equipment I can add to the rear of the truck? Or I'll have to ride one of my bikes and figure out a way to lift it and secure it behind the cab.
I dunno about rental equipment, I'm sure there is, I've seen set ups where there's even a fifth wheel attachment that allows this, but I'd probably just get a hitch set up permanently installed if that's what you are going to do. I'll bet Uhaul can install a hitch on the truck just as well as they can on a pickup, although maybe they won't drill holes, I don't know.
I kinda doubt Uhaul would have the equipment to drill the holes in a set of heat treated frame rails to mount that type hitch... Ive been wrong before though... LOL
Just go to a trailer place, tell them what you want and they will put it on. That section of frame is not heattreated, and many have out a hitch in the back for many reasons, just look at dumps that haul construction trailers.
An RV place would probably be able to help him out also, if he cant find a trailer shop close. Just an idea to keep in mind.
Buy a vehicle specific hitch and YOU can bolt it on, no drilling required. I have installed the "universal fit" hitches for guys...those you need a drill and welder and maybe a grinder and a torch...
