When you start out with a company you have a "home terminal", the one nearest to where you live. What is the procedure if you want to move to a different city? Can you do it as long as there is another terminal there? Do you need permission from the company? Is it frowned upon to change terminals?

I can't answer all the questions you asked here, I'm sure someone will though, BUT......I do know that just because your home terminal is the one nearest to you, doesn't mean your dispatched out of there. We live in Ohio, my husband's terminal is in PA, but he's dispatched out of Indiana, so if we moved it wouldn't be a big deal. But, he works for a bigger company, when he worked for a small, run of the mill company, he was dispatched and home terminal were one in the same. So , I think it would depend on the size of the company if you could move.

Ok - did I confuse you more! Sorry

If you are an OTR driver, then odds are that your 'home' terminal is just a way to keep track of you and your truck, so if you want to change terminals it won't be a big deal. For other companies, your terminal is the center you're dispatched in and out of, so you may not be able to move until an opening is available at the other facility.
