Please clarify or give me some insight into this...

    1. For any little thing you lose your lively-hood
    2. Crooked companies ripping you off etc etc just crooked ways.
    3. If you get into a wreck, it's pretty much over for awhile or forever.
    4. If somebody causes you to get into a wreck but then they say it's your fault.
    5. If you get a speeding ticket it's a huge deal.
    6. Just having the possibility of something screwing your career or your driving record up hanging over your head sucks, and the stress that causes added to the stress and problems you already have.

    1. For any little thing you lose your lively-hood

Lots of careers are like that, Doctors, Nurses, Aircraft Technitions, Cops, etc

    2. Crooked companies ripping you off etc etc just crooked ways.

Do your research on who you wanna work for and you'll be fine

    3. If you get into a wreck, it's pretty much over for awhile or forever.

Not always, but if you pay attention and drive defensively you'll be fine

    4. If somebody causes you to get into a wreck but then they say it's your fault.

Do what your suposed to do, and have a good lawer

    5. If you get a speeding ticket it's a huge deal.

This ones easy DONT BREAK THE FREAKIN LAW!

    6. Just having the possibility of something screwing your career or your driving record up hanging over your head sucks, and the stress that causes added to the stress and problems you already have

    1. For any little thing you lose your lively-hood

That can happen in a lot of fields... just be careful out there!

    2. Crooked companies ripping you off etc etc just crooked ways.

Ask around... ask on here, ask truckers you know to avoid it.

    3. If you get into a wreck, it's pretty much over for awhile or forever.

Not necessarily. Keep proper following distance and keep your pre-trips/post-trips in check... get your rest, too!

    4. If somebody causes you to get into a wreck but then they say it's your fault.

Lawyer up and NEVER admit or SPECULATE fault at the time or after a collision or incident. Refer to my answer to #3 along with this and you should always be fine!!

    5. If you get a speeding ticket it's a huge deal.

DON'T SPEED IN THE FIRST PLACE!! it's not worth it! THAT is one way to cost you your livelyhood as you asked about in question number one!

    6. Just having the possibility of something screwing your career or your driving record up hanging over your head sucks, and the stress that causes added to the stress and problems you already have

Once again. Follow the laws. Rest! Don't speed! Do your pre and post trips! Think about the BIG PICTURE, which is keeping your job/career going for as long as you can!

    Good luck!

Well stated. Is it hard to get the gig where you are six weeks on and one month off. I kinda like the sound of that.

you worry too much--you cant let stuff like accidents and tickets worry you before you get them--you just do your job to the best of your abilities and dont screw up--like american trucker said--many industrys you can get sued for just being there if something screws up---want some stress--try aviation--trucking really has no more stress than what you put into it
there are companys that offer like 7/7 or 14/7 and stuff like that--might be ok if you are retired and have a good pension--or run a small busines or dont like to make enough to live on

1 2 and 6 can happen in any job field 4 can happen to any one but probable a biger deal if you have a job that requires any
kind of driving in a company vehicle. 5 just do the speed limit and have no worries other wise be prepared to pay for breaking the law. 3 beaware of what going on around you and keep plenty of distance for proper advasive action.

first of all, I HAVE NO FEAR of you becoming a driver.... just blast the air horn before you ride up on the sidewalk...:biggrin_2559:

    but seriously...

well this depends on what you talk about..an accident that maims or kills, YES...speeding tickets, running red lights, etc, then YES, if YOU SCREW UP, you CAN LOSE your livelyhood

they are only crooked if you do not have a crow bar to straighten them out.....but seriously, if YOU do the job correctly, and keep track of your miles, and REMEMBER HOW YOU ARE GETTING PAID, then you will not be ripped off. i mean if they pay "practical miles, hub miles, or miles minus out of route" then you cannot complain.

well mostly see number 1....but again, IF YOU SCREWED UP, and was found to be guilty of something.......what would anyone realistically think..??

again, this is like you are repeating yourself.

again, a repeat of what was said.

well, that's the way it is. you either accept it and all the responsibilities and act LIKE A PROFESSIONAL, or you get out now, cuz things ain't gonna get better...

and from the MILLIONS of licensed CDL holders now, i'd say we got a "grip" on the situation....

ARE YOU UP TO THE TASK...???

    if not....bail out NOW.....

lonestar956, i empathise with your concerns. IMHO anything worth haveing involves some level of risk. for me the way i see it is I am not happy in my current job or carreer. I need a change. # 45 Now is the time before I get too old no one wants me lol.

IF I fail what I have I really lost? a job I hate? afew grand for school? a few months of my life? BIG DEAL!

If I fail what do I gain? the experience of trying. the opportunity to try something new. an addventure in school and on the road. the chance to make good friends. the chance to get paid to travel.

If I succeede I will have a great new carreer. life style. be the master of my own destiny(provided I follow company polocy lol) the ability to keep working till i'm old or not healthy enough to continue. the chance to live almost anywhere i want and not have to "change jobs". a job that I am only responsable for what I have controll over.( my driveing, and my load, and my truck,)

This is just MHO this is MY risk assesment. make your own lists and follow your heart.
    Good luck
