No my last truck was an old JB truck set up the exact same way. The one thing I can promise is in the next year you will buy a new turbo, and the next year an egr, egr cooler. Everyone ive ever known including me that has had that motor has been like clock work. Between 600k and 725k. Other than that they run well an pull decent. I had mine set at 490hp. Also just keep up on the suspension or it will rattle the truck apart.

Bought a 06' Columbia w/ the same specs - bought it at 486,000 miles and sold at 750,000. Things done to it include:

New Cranks Sensors (2) - $40 Labor - out of this world
    A few A/C issues
EGR Cooler - 725,000 miles give or take
Fan Clutch - 725,000 miles give or take
    New Clutch - 550,000 miles
    New Heater Cores

Obviously a few other things were done to it as well but that is what I can remember off the top of my head. Other than that it was a good set-up. With the APU that should definitely increase the longevity on the truck. Best of luck with it.

A 13 speed would be a better transmission to go with those 3.58s, but the specs are decent. The 14.0 DD60 with 3.55s or 3.58s was a pretty popular fleet setup after ACERT. Just make sure to keep up on your PM... lube the chassis, change your filters, etc. You can get a small pneumatic grease gun.. it'll save you a lot of hassle vs. a hand pump one. On your supply tank, there should be a place towards the rear where you can screw in a 1/2" quick connect fitting (since it was a fleet truck, there's a good chance they haven't already installed one). There are three type of air line quick connects... A type (automotive) and I type (Industrial) are the most common. The hose and connectors, you can get at Harbor Freight.. just make sure they're all the same type. If you're not sure, look it up online.. don't count on Harbor Freight employees to actually know their product. The pneumatic grease gun... don't get that from Harbor Freight. I'd recommend you either go to NAPA or flag down a Snap-On or Mac Tools truck for that. They do make electric ones, which I have no experience with, personally, but they have been mentioned in other threads on this forum in the past, and every brand has those who love it and those who hate it - not really something which inspires confidence in me. For filter wrenches, if you want to keep it to a minimum, I'd recommend you go to a Caterpillar dealership. They have a 1/2" drive adjustable band filter wrench, and it's only around $16. Unfortunately, mine's locked up in the shop, or I'd have the part number for you. Personally, I prefer to use it in conjunction with a mid-length or long handled 3/8 drive ratchet with a 3/8 to 1/2" adapter... you'll want a slight separation between the head of the ratchet and where it plugs into, but not as much length as an extension provides. 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4" drive socket sets will be a must, as well as combination wrenches... splurge a little on your ratchets.. if you buy crap, the end result will be crap. Snap-On makes the best ratchets, IMO. Mac Tools, Cornwell, SK Tool, Williams, and Gedore make good ones, as well. The sockets, you can be a little more sparing with - just as an example, a 44 piece 3/8" drive Mac Tools set costs almost $700... you don't need to spend that. The sockets themselves, you can get from Sears, Ace Hardware, etc... I would recommend you avoid the Pittsburgh (Harbor Freight) sockets, however. Crescent (adjustable) wrenches will be good to have, as well... go at least with Craftsman for these, because you want something made with at least tool steel, and not this chrome-vanadium crap that Harbor Freight pushes. And if you don't already know how to do PM and basic maintenance, then learn - quick.

I agree with much of what was posted. If it had a 13 speed and the 500hp spec it would be perfect, as long as you have about $5-7k in the bank for a turbo and egr/exhaust system repairs you will be buying soon.
