I dont want to but it looks like I'm not going to have a choice. My wife and i just had another one of Gods blessings given to us two weeks ago,a little boy.So now with 3 kids and a wife who does not want to go back to work i may have to go back OTR. I dont want to, although i do miss driving but with the job situation around here, there is not really any other choice.

I swore to myself that after the treatment i got at my last job i would never go OTR again but family is more important than anything else so if i have to,then i will.

The question i have for everyone is...are there any good trucking companies left and who would you recommend? I really dont want to be out for more that a week at a time but i am open to staying out longer if the pay is good and the company takes care of it's drivers, which is very rare these days.

Nothing is set in stone yet and something may still come up that will keep me home so i will check in on this post to see what replies I'm getting. I would at least like to have something on the back burner, just in case. Thanks guys,God bless!

Local companies, try all of these, these would be your best bets and have great home time
    YRC Freight
    ABF
    Old Dominion
    UPSf
    Duie Pyle

There are more but those are at the top of my head

    For OTR
Schneider National would be the best, they even got local intermodel
JB Hunt, same with local intermodel
Ive heard Lone Star for flat bedding

not to knowledgible on OTR but if you get a local gig you will never want to go

With 16 years experience you shouldn't have to go OTR if you don't want to.

Even if your experience isn't "recent", many smaller local companies don't care about that crap, as long as you can drive.

I'd suguest maybe try to get into a tractor trailer dump or an ltl company. That work is local and the pay is usually pretty deent.

Good luck and I wouldn't want to go OTR either. That's no kind of life for a family man.

First off congrats on your new arrival into this world. You're not going to find a company online that'll get you home every week unless it's where you live or can find a dedicated route, reginal may be another option.Alot of local companies hire, you might wanna try that.Otherwise plan on staying out 2 weeks or longer.

Hey bro, im offended. You didnt list con dash way freight on there. But try local companies. Yoiu have the potential to make good money and be home daily/nightly.

I dont know you, congrats on the young baby and by no means am I judging. But why wouldn't your wife at least something part time to help with the bills? Just wondering

Smitty used to be good, back when I lived in Pa. Not sure how they are today, but worth looking into.
