hey guys whats up, i wanna see if i can get a little help. i have been driving for a month now, with roehl transport. they are the company that trained me as well. im thinking about switching to maverick, for one the pay is better, two i wanna do flatbed, and third roehl hired me out of tulsa ok, and dont have much freight here. i was out for 33 days before they could get me home. im about to go back out. so i wanna put in apps before i leave, and wondering if anyone has worked for both companies, and is maverick a better choice? (specially being that maverick is located about 4hrs from home) any help would be appreciated thanks

U would be better off waiting until u have at least 6 months exp. But do your research like you are and u will be fine. I've always heard good things about maverick

What will you do if your not happy at Maverick?

Think very hard before changing jobs so quickly. It was common years ago but in todays economy and stability the only ones hiring are the one's who have High Driver Turnover because they tell half truths, If your wanting to do a 34 hour reset at your house every weekend like the Ad's offer, you need a company with a dedicated account that passes through your area.

Excellent advice, but still in most cases u gotta pay ur dues before u can find a local or dedicated company that could even get u on their insurance. I have 3 personal friends that have learned this the hard way two are unemployed still and would have to go back to school to get any job driving and the other makes 10 bucks an hour and has lost almost everything. A solid work record can make or break you in this industry.

Ive never worked for Roehl. I know from talking to some of their drivers that most are happy. That being said Ive been at Maverick for 8yrs and I have few complaints. Living in Tulsa you are in an excellent area for our freight. We get home weekends and that means friday night leaving sunday noon usually for me,I live near KC. We run e-logs now so if you havent done that it will take some getting used to but once you learn to utilize your hours efficiently you will still be able to average 2400mi a week being home weekends and 2800-3000 for a over weekend run. Equipment is very new and well equipped with a lease purchase program, though you will need 6mos here before eligible for that. As for your 1 month of experience you need to call a recruiter. We hire out of schools so no experience isnt a problem however since you are already on with Roehl they may want you to wait til you get 6mos. It doesnt hurt to ask. They may ask you to ride with a trainer for a week or two if they do hire you. We are a good company and if being home 48 out of 52 weekends a year is what you want then we will be a good fit. Also come ready to work and do things right the first time, slackers dont make it long here as they get a very cold shoulder from the rest of us. This company feels like a large family after you've been here a while.

How is roehl financially sinking they are in zero debt? It sounds like you want to leave, and are just tryin to talk yourself into it, I agree they shouldn't have hired u knowing that they couldn't get you home. That was messed up! And believe me when I was a company driver I hated roehl but once you get some seniority it gets a lot better. If they don't get u home and you have talked to ur fm, fom, an nothing gets fixed then yes a move would be in order.

There has to be some financial problems when they won't fix there trucks, lie to new employees about how they have no trucks in there fleet over 5yrs old and 500,000 miles, and when they do fix something they use salvage, or used parts

Yeah I have, said they should have no problems getting me home and the time on the job shouldn't be a problem cause I was at my last job before driving for 5yrs
