I have a 387 pete 2004 and the problem I have is so frustrating that I'm thinking of buying another truck, here is my problem ;if I brake hard my radio turns off for a few seconds then turns on again,it does the same when I open the door and if I turn on interior light the engine shuts off and lose all power in the cab and instrument panel and the switch only the headlights and marker lights turn on, and no brake lights, after an hour or two comes back to normal, but since I can't be the there waiting I connected a cable from batteries to the switch and start engine to move out of the way but no instruments lights or clearance nor lights on cab and trailer, no brake lights only flashers.Anyone had this problem?. Please help.
Sounds like you might have a wire grounding out (touching metal) somewhere? May have to track all of your wires from the battery and see if there are any naked wires somewhere? Might also check all of the wires on the starter to make sure they are tight?(matter of a fact check this first). If you don't find any loose or naked wires, it may be in your ECM? Might have to take it by a dealer and let them hook their computer to it? Good luck.
Can't help. Sorry. Love me my Pete's (mine were all 379's) but I ain't never met a Pete that didn't have electrical issues. Loved 'em anyways. Every truck has issues. BTW; Knowing it is "electrically challenged" I never just left my markers on parked (no guys I wasn't being rude when you backed in next to me) or ran my heavy draw 12 v. stuff w/o idling etc. PLUS . . . If you ever have an alternator/ battery charging problem that ran the batts dead . . . I highly recommend just going ahead and changing all the batteries AND the alternator at the same time. That cleared up a LOT of my issues whereas changining the one this and the one that, at a time just caused me to keep having to do it over and over until batts AND alt were all new and installed same time. Cleared up a BUNCH of stupid computer issues with my 3406E Cat too. No rhyme nor reason. That's just what finally solved all my electrical glitches; BUT That was older 379's with Cat 3406e's.
Odds are you have a water problem. On a guess, this problem cropped up shortly after a heavy rain storm. Open up your fuse panel, take out your relays, one by one, and dump the water out of them. Most likely places the water got in, if that is in fact the problem, was where the roof cap is attached to the cab, or near the cowl in front of the windshield.
I know trucks in general have several location for fuse boxes... My power window on passenger side doesn't seem to work. I've tried both driver and passenger side switches. Where would one find the fuses for the Windows on a 2015 587? I've looked In the fuses under the passenger pride of the bunk and behind the glovebox.
