I can't tell you for sure. I've never heard of this. But I can see why, because you are working and that contributes to the hours you work in a week. That is what the log book tracks.

The company has conflicting interests, so you should research the rules and regulations yourself. I personally wouldn't depend on the company I work for or other truck drivers when it comes to log book regulations. JMO.

Yes you do. You log it as on duty not driving. See FMCSR 395.2 Definitions, On-Duty time (9). That's where you'll find on-duty time shall include (9) Performing any compensated work for a person who is not a motor carrier.

    BigJohn54 Thanks this.

As usual you're the man! My gut told me it was true. It makes perfect sense as all the hours you work in a week contribute to any fatigue factor. I wasn't familiar with the regs and was too lazy to look it up.

    trucker_101 and GasHauler Thank this.
