I am enrolled in a truck driving school in Mississippi that some consider a CDL mill. I have been the victim of harassment and profanity laced fits from my instructor while in front of other students. His fits have me so nervous that I am unable to calm my nerves enough to demonstrate my skills. I have asked to be transferred to another campus owned by the same company. The director at my location told me that I could transfer but I must keep the same examiner (which is my instructor) because he is the person that initiated my testing. I have failed my skills test twice and my last conversation with him basically let me know that he does not want to deal with me anymore and I am tired of his abuse. The director wants me to return to his campus, train for three days, and take the test again under this same person. Is there any state of federal regulation or law that requires me to keep the same examiner? If so, please state the statute so I can research it.
In a word "NO" there is no state of federal regulation or law that requires you to keep the same examiner. This has never been true. The only policy that MS "had" concerning this was that you could not test with the HP, fail and then go to a third party examiner. This policy no longer exists. If they will not allow you to change examiners it is a company policy. From what you stated it sounds like a certain school on the coast. You can request a HP test rather than the schools or another outside third party examiner, but then the school may not be obliged to issue you a certificate.
First you need a truck to test in if you go to the state. Also call the CDL office in your state and ask them. Not the local office the state office. Good luck. in the wind till the wind quits blow'n ride safe & have a safe ride
if by chance you can pass all your tests with ms testers and not the school understand this, those time cards you fill out are required. they will prove you trained there and passed everything. it will have the hours you trained and days you missed. i would suspect with the correct paperwork you can get hired somewhere. i would advise all students to make copies of there time cards. your tests and maybe even a tape recorder for the cursing, but you will find if it is the school i think it is they probably wont help.
Aren't you paying them for a service? You aren't paying to be demoralized and humiliated. If he is yelling, he's not instructor material. On the other side, if you are going to survive in this business, you need to be thick skinned.
there is one good trick that any good instructor can use that will really help, its counting mississippis;he will properly put you in the correct starting position, maybe tell you to turn your wheels all the way left and tell you to start back and you count 1 mississippi 2 mississippi and so on till he says stop then turn your wheels halfway to th left and start backing and count till he says stop then he will probably tell you to turn your wheels all th way left start backing then he will say stop. if it was done right you should be correctly in parallel parking. remember your mississippis and you will be able to do it every time and the timeing and coordination should come to you on your own without counting, and that would be what i called it clicked for you and you will do better. another thing you probably have a problem with is the airbrake questions how many lbs can it leak on a straight truck brakes released ans 2 remember 2and3an3and4 the smallnumbers are straight truck, larger numbers are combination vehicle the smallnumber is brakes released the large number is brakes applied 2nd3 straght truck 3and 4 combination vehicle 3 released 4 aplied have fun
Dang, you got me replying to an old post OSB. That guy passed and and got 5 years experience now. He still shakes in his boots when someone raises their voice!
