Hope everyone is having a good day. A couple of things. I have just applied to CR England, well 3 weeks ago, and they said to come on out there. I have heard of all these negative reports, some pretty outstanding and am wondering if I need to proceed with this. I just got my CDL in Oct in 2010 and have been job hunting ever since. The reason I have not gotten a job as quickly is that I have a misdemeanor, nonviolent, non-drug related. And that has really screwed up my chances of getting a job, Just learned from Schneider and CT Transport, and a couple others that the misdemeanor needs a 5 yr time before it will 'go away'. Any questions comments on this? Based on the information above, how can I get a job, heck any job so that I can get a min of 1 yr exp. NOTE:: My CDL will be going "stale" after this month and I need to try to get a job before hand. And still trying with C R England and CT but need some more options. Please help guys, I am really in the whole here. If you have any comments, proactive or otherwise, please reply. Any suggestions, well, please suggest. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks, AJ
Man,I don't know about any of the "Big Companies" except for what I read here and talkin to folks on the road.,but THIS I do know,-it WILL NOT be easy no matter how you do it..,hell,Ive been doing this OTR thing almost 7 years, still aint easy..I am thinking, why not get your start with them at least,if you don't like it,try to at least stick it out for a year.,then go from there..Oh YEAH..I would not lease from ANYONE either till you get a real "feel" for the truckin game..Drive On Brother..
Trans Am will hire you just don,t let Ernie TALK you into leasing a truck. Company drivers do okay fairly new trucks with autoshift
If England offered you a job, what are you waiting for? Remember one thing Mr Driver-to-be... You don't have to spend your entire career with your first carrier and please remember there's two sides to every story you're reading here. You're only getting one side!
I would say, if you haven't gotten a better offer, then take the opening that you have. You always look better to a potential employer if you are already working. It will keep our license from going "stale". Any experience will be more than you have now. And, any time that you spend at the starter company will just make you criminal conviction that much older, when you apply somewhere else.
Spend a hundred bucks on a Lawyer for some consultation, maybe you can see about getting this expunged. That will wipe it off your record.Should only cost a hundred dollars for a lawyers ear for an hour.I am not sure about Ga. laws, but,in Florida where I live, you can get small offenses cleaned up if they were non violent and they could hurt your future. Most Judges are pretty cool about small stuff if they see an honest effort on your part in trying to better yourself.Worth a shot.
