I was used to being a company driver for so long and never had to provide or purchase my own chains
My question :
How many of the following do I need to comply with most chain laws on the truck
1. Singles
2. Doubles
Or cables
Do you know average cost to outfit the truck properly
Thank you in advance

I have no idea how much they cost. I want to say you need to have at least 8 singles to be legit in all cases but that could be wrong. It varies from state to state. I just went over Donner and Caltrans gave me a little card that shows you need to chain the four outside drives and the outside rears on the trailer, so that would be six. Some states say you have to chain the trailer and others don't.

The price varries depending on where & when you buy them. -
Wa requires 7 singles or 3 set of 3 railers + 1 single. This is the most required of any state I know of. Chains in a truck stop are apx $100 a bag.

just curious how many chains are in a $100 bag, thanks
