I started driving last Aug with Werner. I really liked the company and the job. What I didnt really like is spending 3 weeks away from home every night in the stupid box alone. Then around Christmas a death in the family and some other personal issues got to be a little to much for me and I did go back out.

Well I am thinking about giving it another try. I did really like the job. But I think it would be a lot better if I could find a company that could get me home every weekend. So I am asking around a few place if anyone knows of a good company that could get me home more often. I live in the Detroit area so if anyone knows of a company like that hiring around here let me know.

Or is their no chance of someone with as little experience as I have find a job like that?

I was looking into Falcon but I cant find much on them. From what I understand they get you home most weekends. Anyone know if that is true??

If you have been off the road since dec your 6 months are up. Most co's want 2 years recent OTR within the last 6 months.

Yes I do know about that. From what I am told you need to have a refresher course. I already talked to the school I went to and they will give me one for free.

Find a new career path. When you are a new guy you should just get out there and do it. You are learning. You will not learn anything at home. Afer a few years of this crap the start looking for something that gets you home more.

    Question

You say over the holidays thing got to much for you with having a death in the family & all that jazz... That you didn't go back out? If you didn't go back out, how did Werner get their truck back?

Try Churchhill trucking out of Detroit.

Find a local company, I have no clue why guys around here have such a hard time understanding that a company "near" their home is more apt to have loads back to their home town, that a company based 6 states away.

They rented a few vans for a bunch of us to go home on the holidays. I left my truck at the Springfield term. I called and talked to my contact at Werner 2 days before I was due back.

I made a clean brake from Werner and that is who I may go back to if I can not find what I am looking for.

I do understand that. That is why I posted the area I live in. I am also looking into stuff my self with very little luck.

I can learn working 5 days and home 2 just as well as I can working 5 days then sitting around far from home for 2. I did very little work on the weekends at Werner and from what I keep reading it is the same with all the big company.

I dont have any problem working. I have a problem with sitting around all weekend far from home and alone in a stupid little box with .
