This is for squonk or skinny trucker or anyone experienced at YRC. I think I'm getting hired, but I don't know. I had a sort of phone interview, took the drug test and passed the background check. Also had to update my profile, fill out w-4 and direct deposit....all on-line which was weird. Now I guess I'm waiting for a call. The hiring manager has been very vague and hard to get a hold of. The job is an inexperienced driver (less than one year) and says part time at Chicago heights. But he says I will be working full time and will be driving. Have to go through 160 hours behind the wheel, pass driving test, and it is a road driver position. He says full benefits.(health and he also said pension) whether I'm working or not. Maybe short term lay-offs in Jan. 61 cpm, but ill b starting at 15% less. Does all this sound right and normal? I don't mind working the dock, just want to work full time. This whole experience has been very weird to me, and the hiring manager seems to have a "take it or don't, let me know what you decide" kind of attitude. I'm not sure where I stand. I just graduated from trucker school and am driving a combination locally for a farming company. Hoping to start a new career and a long term one. Like I said, the whole experience has been strange. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You will be on call / part time for aleast a year.. Stick with it the money is the best in the industry, only Ups pays more but not by much..The 1st years WILL bring you much frustration..but you will have great home time..stay out of company politics..I 've been here 14 years & I know what I'm talking about..the TMs will always be vague ..just follow the union rules and you'll be good..GL
Still can't figure out what is going on here. Multiple phone calls not being returned. Kind of frusterating. Finally got someone from HR on the phone, and the response was "you should be getting a call.......". Why does this seem so unorganized? I guess I sit and wait.......hopefully they call.
Took me 2 weeks to get on at Reddaway. Took me a month to get on at Yellow in 2007. They will call you.
