I owned a body shop for about 20 years. A couple weeks ago a friend put there car in the ditch.

Bumper is messed up, fender is tweaked a little. Lower A-arm is bent back less than an inch.

A was telling them that the A-arm can be pulled straight and the guy can get back and forth to work. No big deal.

Some guy I'd never met says that's not safe to do.

I said, I've done it for about 20 years. It's insurance approved work if it's within tolerance.

Guys says "Well, I'm a professional mechanic".

    Conversation over at that point.

I started driving straight trucks at 18 n got my cdl at 21. That was in the late 90's. No school needed. Practice and common sense. Then you get your experience slowly n surely

This may be true to a degree.. but schools and trainers are what they are.. to say that bedbuggers have some sort of untapped skills as trainers and or FOR students is laughable. The schools are what they are and even if the school was months long.. the first day on the road with the best trainer is going to be new... trainers are made.. and trained.. and that is another aspect that the trucking industry and truckers themselves have screwed up.

I went to truck driving school. My first job was working for Cassens hauling cars. I've worked 10 years local in Chicago. I'll match my driving skills down a driveway, up a driveway, around blind corners with any bed bugger. Bed bugging ain't nothing special.

Everyone has to start driving somewhere. The schools do teach basics. The rest is learned day to day, year after year.
