Mcallen. Yes I already have someone who is going to hire me. He's actually the one who is going to help me drive with my permit for my test.

Well I thought I'd give an update on my thread. We'll my good friend who was suppose to get me in the road and get me ready for my road test has not come through. So I have decided to NTFU and go through a small school near me. I would like an opinion, they charge $1650 for a 4.5 day course preparing you for the road test on the same route as my local dps office uses. 4 days in "training" and the 5th day they take you to the dps office for your road test with a day cab and a 53 footer. Is this a good deal? Due to my credit I can't don't qualify for the cdl school that fully trained for 3 weeks. And I don't make enough money to pay our almost $6000 for their course. So I found out about that other school called rgv cdl services. They're the ones with that 4 day course. So God hoping, I will switch to 1099 with my current employer and work my ### off for the next 5 or six weeks to dish out the $1650.

Well brother if I may tell you now days most companies wants you to have 130hrs or more combined in classroom and hands on unless you are a veteran some companies might make an exception, It's better if you play safe and go to a school and get your hours along with your certificate, another route would be going to a training company such as Stevens transport or swift do your time 6 months to a year and get you a local job. Reason I told you about the hrs is my friend works at a the community college and most companies would want an individual with their little certificate even though you would still be placed on training for few more weeks. Anyways good luck and keep me updated.

Also checkout your nearest Texas workforce they do provide a grant for your cdl or even pay for it in full.

Yes I'm on their waiting list. The school they pay for does 5 students every 3 weeks. And when I got in the list here at workforce after sitting through their 2 hour "enrollment" I am about 60 people away...
