OK, so I will be starting OTR in September and have spent the last 2 years since I got my CDL looking a companies. And I have spent god only knows how long on this forum reading about every company on here.

So what I'm looking for is a decent company to start out with that allows real inverters, not the cigarette lighter ones?

I want to be able to cook in my truck and have some creature comforts, because I will most likely be living out of my truck, not planning on sitting around my apt.

When I say decent company, this is what is and isn't important to me in a company.......

    Important:

    1) Allows inverters
    2) Must hire out of NC and hires at 21 years old
    3) Manual Transmission "not to bash autos, I just prefer stick"
    4) I would prefer to run 48 states, Canada would be cool too, would also like to get to MA, NH, VT "thats where all my family and most of my Friends live". NO MEXICO
    5) 401K or some time of retirement plan
    6) Allows Microwave in truck " I have heard Werner allows a 2500watt inverter but they won't allow microwaves in there trucks"
    7) Reefer or Dry Vans
    8 ) 27cpm+
    9) Enough miles to pay my bills and not starve to death
    10) a company that wont screw me and or destroy me on my DAC when I leave

    Not Important:

    1) APU would be cool but not necessary
    2) Type of Truck " I don't really like Volvo's but It really doesn't matter"
    3) Home Time
    4) Health/Dental Insurance as long as there not crazy expensive
    5) Loading/Unloading "a little work wont kill me"
    6) Type of dispatch "forced or non forced"
    7) whats in the trailer and who its coming from or going to

I know the way the trucking industry is right now I probably wont get to "Choose" who I work for, and am more then willing to take what I can get. I'm just hoping to find and apply to all the companies that I "want" to work for.

The only company on my radar like this is Watkins & Shepard

Thanks in Advanced for any help or advice!

Since you waited 2 years you will probably be required to take a refresher course.

Have you talked to any companies? Your best bet is to call them and run down your list of questions.

    American-Trucker Thanks this.

That alone will really narrow down the list.

Yes, I can't even do a refresher course I have to go to school all over again. I will be finishing up school just as I turn 21 in September. I found out about this about a year ago.

And I have called allot of companies, I was looking for more that I may have not heard of or one that I haven't called. I'm hoping to put together a list of companies that allow them and then do even more research on them and put them in the order of which one I want to work for the most, But still apply to all of them so if I don't get into one I'll have a list of backups that I still like before I have to go to a company that doesn't allow them.
