Are there any good o/o companies that are good to start out with to get similar experience as an independent contractor but not? If so how much money would i need to have saved up for my own truck or are there any o/o companies that will let me lease purchase a truck with 0 down upfront?
Cardinal Logistics is a good place to start. driveforcardinal.com Here's their ad: [h=3]Look at all of the advantages we bring you:[/h] Our transportation-industry financial partner can help you buy a reliable, late-model truck Youll get the best rates and terms: only $2,000 down and a short, 36-month term Youll drive recession-proof, dedicated freight All round-trip miles are paid, loaded or empty Your safety record and work history matter more to us than your credit history Receive convenient, weekly settlement deductions
If you are wanting to lease to a carrier that allows you the freedom to run your truck similar to having your authority, there are several around that I am personally familiar. First, you need to find a carrier that is agent based rather than having a dispatcher. Universal Truckload, Landstar, CRST Malone all have agents. If you want a dispatcher, Mercer might be a good fit. CRST Malone is flatbed. Landstar and Universal have flats and vans. I think that CRST Malone is the only one that offers lease purchase. Schneider might be a good fit for a new owner operator. I think they offer a lease purchase.
Their are many companies that lease 0 zero down, but you'll end up paying about twice the worth of the truck, you'd be better off buying a truck from a dealer, then leasing to a company, to go out totally on your own, I'd suggest having at least 25k in the bank, especially if your buying a used truck, you will need operating money plus the oh schit money you can't predict, best of luck
