How different are these two test in comparison? I've been studying Nj cdl Hand book and been taking all the practice test for the permit off cristcdl.com website. Just told by my recruiter that I should be studying the Missouri cdl handbook instead. All good info and good comments appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Theres a link to the MO manual. I wouldn't be too worried about it. If the MO or NJ tests are anything like the one I took in SC, you'd should have no problems passing. It's scary how easy that test is.

I'm pretty sure the CDL testing system is regulated federally so there a certain degree of consistency between all the states.

Also, the practice questions on that website are almost identical to what I saw on the test.

If you are getting your permit in NJ then study that one, if you are getting your permit once you get to Prime then study the MO handbook, there is not really that much difference I don't think.

    Thanks n3ss and Highway101.
I am taking my permit in Missouri, but been studying the nj cdl book. I don't see it being that much of a difference, but hence the wannabe status. I have just downloaded the Missouri cdl permit book. The main test I need is air brakes, general knowledge, combination. Anything other ones I would need. Im starting Prime Inc. Very soon and didnt really think about it til I got my orientation letter today.

I'm pretty sure Prime will want you to get hazmat, but I don't think you need to take that until after you're licensed.

I WOULD NOT even think about going to Prime to start out.

The written tests are basically the same. The driving test is where it may be different. Again I would not go to Prime.

If your here to bash the company im starting with, save it for yourself. Personally I cant even validate your comment cause of you gave no info on why I shouldn't. If your going to say werner, swift, or them bs company's, save it. I asked for cdl permit info not what you think I should do with my cdl career starting out. I did months of research on companies, narrowed it too a few. PRIME inc. is my personal decision. I personally think I made a good decision. Too each their own on starting out their careers.

Right,to each their own.Everyone has to start somewhere. You've been studying the NJ manual and doubt its not much different then the mo manual. So what you already studied will probably be on the test.I looked at the mo manual and its pretty much the same thing as the Iowa manual.
