I clipped a curb on a bridge on a back road in Kentucky that had a tight turn at the end of it. Didnt blow the tires, but did damage the sidewalls on the outside tires of both axles.

I do my delivery and there is a Loves about 30 mi from there. They usually have a good price on the Yokohoma tires I like to get. I get there and I tell em I want to buy 4 tires. They didnt have 4,.. but only 1 Yokohoma in 255/70. They want to sell me Aeolas,.. I dont like cheap tires. So I am about to walk away and he offers them to me for just the cost of the tires. No charge for dismounting or disposal. $868.17 for 3 tires. They didnt have 4, so I had them rotate things around to make it work. I thought it was a good deal. Even if the tires only last 8 - 10 months.

    That was Sept 24th.

This morning I do my pre trip as usual. Everything good. I head out,.. I go maybe 150 mi and pull into rest stop to take care of my business. I come back out, look over my load and as I'm checking my trailer I notice the side wall on one of the new tires has a tear in it. It looks as if it was curbed,.. but no scuff marks on the tire or rim. Just a separation of rubber on the sidewall.

I go to Loves to have the tire replaced under warranty and the manager says he cant replace the tire under warranty because its the wrong tire for a spread axle trailer. I shake my head,.. WTF did you just tell me!?! I say to him. He repeats himself and my fuse is lit. I'm beside myself. I want to drop this Mother right where he stands.

I say to him,.. you mean to tell me that Loves sold me 3 tires and mounted them on my truck and they are the wrong tires for my trailer? If so, you need to remove all of them right now and put the right tires on my trailer. Says he wont do that. Blah blah,.. we have words and I leave before I end up in jail.

What options do I have? Besides buying another tire,.. what can I do? This tire is defective,.. and if true they arent the right tire,.. they sold and mounted them on my truck. Where do I stand? What would you guys do?

These tires barely have 8k mi on them. I'm beyond livid right now.

    Thanks,..

    Hurst

Take it up the corporate ladder until it falls on the right persons lap. Express your concern for safety and possible lawsuit if something were to happen due to them selling you the wrong tires for your application. I dont know what else you could do.

Try and get a hold of corporate which could be impossible. Most truck stop chains do not deal with truckers directly.

Surprised. Loves does have a contact number

Call 1-800-OK-LOVES during business hours (M-F, 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. CST) and listen to the instructions to find the department you are looking for.

Yup take it to Corporate. They would like to pawn this off on the tire manufacturer but they put the wrong tires on the truck. If nothing else, would probably be an easy win in small claims court.

    Thanks guys.

Been stewing on this since this afternoon.

Cost more to sue then to replace tire. I'm a pretty stand up guy who isnt afraid to admit when he is wrong. I believe that all good deeds come back to you in one way or another. Just hate feeling helpless when I feel a business wont do the right thing. I guess expecting them to hold to the same standards that I do is wishful thinking.

I even offered to pay for labor, that way they can return the tire to Aeola as defective/warranty and they arent out anything. Nope,.. this guy woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and I was his source to lash out. I haven felt this angry over something thats really stupid.

I looked on Aeolus website and it says nothing about specific usage for these tires. They are the HN230 Plus tires. Says all position tires,.. specifically for trailer and lift axles. Says nothing about not meant for spread axles.
    Link to tires I have.

I will never buy these again.

    Still aggravated thinking about it.

    Thanks again.
