I have read through this site trying to get a piece of mind and not trying to flush my new found career down the toilet, like I have with my past.

I know everyone has thier own situation but I really need to get some good and logical feedback. I have been reading this forum for about a week now and have found bits a pieces of info but nothing that really answers my questions.
I will give a little history about me. I am a student with my cdl, needing to finish schooling with a 6 week finishing program with a company to get my certificate. I have a not so friendly trucking background DUI's and a Felony, These are well over 7 yrs old and since then I have not been in any trouble or tickets zip zero nada, let alone seen a cop execpt behind someone else, A pefrect criminal, driving and employment history for 7 1/2 yrs (changed my ways). I have passed hazmat background check and have my hazmat, tanker and double/triple endorsments. I have two employers in the last five years and am currently still employed with the one I have been with almost three years(non trucking).

MY current stressor, I have read and read this forum and I hear over and over again to be honest about everthing on my record. I have done this with every company I have applied for and recruiter I have talk to (no lie over 40 companies)and All I have heard is NO. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ???

Next I have got a invite to oreintation to a major trucking company which is next week and I was honest on my application to my last crime 7 1/2 yrs ago but I was not able to put every last thing I have done on application(not enough room) and was honest to recruiter when she asked questions but didnt offer anything but what she asked, she also stated she did background check and DAC and Dmv record and she said all looks good. So I am now worried since reading threads about people being sent home from orientations for not being honest, etc.. WHAT SHOULD I DO, I DONT WANT TO BE ACCUSED OF LYING???

How far back do companies go on criminal record, driver record etc.. I just want to get a job, be honest about my PAST but sick of being told NO over and over again more then 40 times in the last 30 days. I have also remained sober for 7 1/2 yrs. So going back to the way I was is not a option in life.
I would just like some help and or feedback.

trans am hired me and my past is very sketchy. they hired 3 others I knew with backgrounds that had other companies turn them down. One guy at trans am went all the way thru orientation with crst then he was called into the office and let go because they found out he had more stuff then he said in his past

Here's where you have to find your confidence. In your mind, go through all the possibilities- picture yourself getting the job AND getting canned. Do some talking to yourself so you can handle the outcome each way. Be ready to calmly (and confidently) explain why some info wasn't on the forms if it does become an issue. If you get called in to talk to someone and lose your composure, they'll think that you're a risk. If you can look them in the eye and calmly explain your side, it might save your job.

Doesn't hurt to say a prayer or two first, you can always use the strength and inspiration. So, go get that job.

2 or more DUI's and ANY drug related conviction are usually deal-breakers for most carriers and their insurance companies. It will be difficult, but not impossible.

Lawnjunkie most companies have a 5 year limit on DUI's. A felony is a different story depending on what it is. Usually you won't be able go into Canada unless they changed that on me. 7 to 10 years is the norm for companies,BUT it depends on what or who the company is contracted for. It wouldn't surprise me if a company's primay customer is any of the Federal Agencies they do a thorough background check.

I am live in Idaho and they only do withheld judgement and it will still be there
as a charge not a conviction so I am needing money to do so. I am worried about the company
Finding stuff I don't have on app but not to worried to go to orientation and meet my maker and hope for the best.

Do you know anything on warner, swift, may or knight, as far as how long they do their backgrounds do to who they haul? If not no worries just to get a start somewhere and hope for the best. Just worried

A suggestion, hire a Pvt dick to do a background check on you, VIA the internet, They know all the angles, I've heard it's a few hundred $$, but you can ask. That way, you know what's on your "rap" sheet. However, most discretions go back over 7 yrs, maybe even 10. I've heard Canada bringing up 25 yr old DUI's when trying to cross in. Any trouble with the law in the past is in a file somewhere, it's just a matter of someone searching deep enough.
