I have noticed several threads posted in the company sections about drivers completing training and then have to wait for a truck and I have a friends at USX and USA truck who are waiting for trucks.

If you have experienced that recently could you provide some info as to what company and how long you had to wait.

Is there a truck shortage? Is this companies stockpiling drivers? Is this only happening at the likes of Swift USA truck and USX?

These companies know this before hiring drivers. That speaks volumes about certain companies.

Sure would be nice if these companies would quit sitting on their brain and get more organized for the drivers sake. Then just maybe they would'nt have such a high turnover rate.

Might be tactics by some companies to get drivers to lease. No company trucks but if you want to lease, Sure we have plenty

Most mega starters sell their trucks after only a few years, so they don't want to buy a 2013 model year when they can get a 2014 in a month or two that'll cost about the same upfront but be worth more when theyre done with it.

They're not sitting on their brain, they have put much thought and deliberation into how to keep their trucks rolling AND keep driver wages low...apparently their answer is to have suckers on standby for when the next driver quits.

They could care less what the driver turnover rate is, or if the driver eats, or pays his/her mortgage...in fact, if the driver doesn't pay their mortgage and loses their home, that's even better for the company. Now the driver is trapped in the truck and doesn't need home time because they don't have a home to go to.

It really is amazing how much abuse we will take. I'm just about done with being a driver all together, there is little to no unity between drivers and a vast majority of us are rude pigs with no sense of pride or dignity. The only ones that seem to take pride in what they do is owner operators but most of them adopt a "holier than thou" attitude just because I'm a company driver. Come to think of it, I don't really blame them because most company drivers are know it all super truckers.

    OK, rant over.

Most Mega Starters do not even own their trucks , they do a fleet lease with the manufacturer with a fleet rotation starting when the trucks hit a predetermined mileage. This year there have been production problems with a few manufactureres and delivery has / was delayed on a lot of trucks.

everything you said IS SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You're right, companies don't care who quits. Many get subsidy so they in time force you to quit so they can hire another driver for that subsidy. For every driver lost they have 10 drivers to take your place.

These mega carriers create a safety hazard going through so many drivers. If their turnover rate runs 80%. They shouldn't be able to run more than 20% of their fleet plus 10%. They need to be broken up like the phone companies years ago. Maybe then this industry could concentrate on moving freight.
