If I am an O/O and I get a couple of csa points for say tail light out or blinker out in a year and other minor stuff at least once a year, what kind of trouble is that going to cause me? This is for a new O/O pulling a flatbed...
You want to avoid points all together, I know it may not be possible, stuff happens. But I believe that brokers and customers can see your csa score and you use that against you when you are bidding for freight. Your insurance company is also going to keep an eye on csa scores as well, and your premiums are likely to go up with increased points, to many and they can drop you.
I work for a small company. We were 2 trucks and recently went to 3. We had a guy driving for us that got an OOS two times for log book violations. We could not pull Landstar loads for almost two years because our score was to high compared to our peer group.
MJ if you had fired him would Landstar been ok with you??? It seems almost impossible to not get some of these ######## points. I guess you could rewire your trailer totally with LED and if every cluster had say 6 LEDs then if one was out it wouldnt matter. How can Landstar even find rigs that have no points when they need thousands of rigs to function../??
Bob, csa points follow the driver and the company. in the previous example they should fire the guy to prevent even more points, but that will not erase the points the carrier already has. in theory I love csa, in practice not so much( do to the financial incentive an officer has to write you up vs what they used to do, "fix that market light when ya stop for the night". even the best of us will get a few points here and there, which is no big deal, but those that habitually run with trailers that have lights not functioning will accrue so many points they will be pushed out of the industry. this is good.
How many points is an over weight ticket? Geez everything I pick up is o.w. and tandems are maxed out! Ugh
I was told by a DOT cop that unless they do an inspection that it doesn't have to be sent to the feds and it won't show up on your csa.
Well#### he did an inspection..my truck passed flying colors but their stupid trailor FAILURE! And the cop actually hit on me ...really? But I suppose he could've wrote all day on that p.o.s. trailer! All he wrote up was an O.W ticket to carrier...He gave me his business card n said to call him "if you need anything" I smiled and said thanks as I threw it out the window. I d I o t
