So I live in the burbs about 10 min outside Richmond, VA. I'm in a sub division (no HOA) but needless to say truck parking ain't gonna work. I know when I get a truck I could probably ditch it here and there, but that's not reliable. Anybody have that issue? I figured rented spots? trying to figure this out for the (hopefully) near future.

Some guys park at the dealer-repair shop where they get their work done. For a fee (of course)...

Check with area storage unit rentals. Sometimes places like that you can rent space to park an RV, boat, or even a big truck.

I pay $50 a month for a gravel lot that is a real pain to get in and out of. It's about 16 miles from my house. Lot is fenced and locked at night. There's a half dozen other trucks there and a masonry business. Owner claims to have never had an incident with theft, and so far so good.

I park trailers in the big parking lots in a commerce park bout a half mile from the house. Park the truck about a mile past that at a gated & cammed self storage facility.

Try businesses that have there own trucks (how I found the place I park trailers: it was a moving and storage place when I first went in to ask-it's not secured per se, & the owner didn't charge me: "I know how hard it is to find a place to park trucks around here" )

I keep trying to convince my wife to do just this!

Currently I rent a space in a dirt (mud when it rains) lot for $75 a month. I don't like the lot much but it's less than a block from my house so convenience is worth the negatives. I don't trust parking on the street or in an industrial park. A lot of guys do just that near me but I'm afraid of theft.

Tell the owner you found a gravel lot for $40 a month and see what he says....
