OK I have another good question... How much can I make?

Since all you nice wonderful people helped me out on my last question I thought of another one. How much can i make truck driving Long haul? Some say 30k some say up to 60k? So my question is, what if I truck and like my last post what if I truck and live out of my truck and stay out for very very long periods of time and just drive my ##### off? What is the possible income. I want to flatbed and the company ill be going with gives 37cents a mile. So lets say No family to visit, I live in truck, and if I can stand it no problem for months maybe even the whole year each year what is the possible income?

 

The thing of it is..............You will mentaly wreck yourself after time....Ive heard the whole "I'll stay out for a year-6 months whatever".......
You'll see the Revenue does not equate to throwing your life away all year long.

If youre a young man......You can get away with it for a little while...IT WILL CATCH YOU AND HURT YOU MENTALLY....

You can earn 60k plus per year with the carrier....Without Killing yourself. I know your young and probably want to see the country...Thats Fine.. But do it the right way and Take some time to be with your Family..Friends and Loved ones occasionally.

 

I really don't have much family that i talk to. Had a past with family and we all split. My dad is in germany and my great grandpa practically raised me since I was 1. He will be gone soon. And I understand the mental aspect but I have been through some hardcore stuff that I think maybe I can manage for a while. And no sight seeing really. Yeah you can sight see but at 60+mph.. hahah lots of blur. But I am more of a back woods hardcore type of person and trucker life on the road might be just fine for me. Basically its like an RV 1/8 the size and you haul stuff. A little hell now pays off in the future. But yes thanks for the advice I understand it is no cake walk.

WOW! Good Question, You can make pretty good money but don't burn yourself out, If I was you about 8 weeks would be as long as I could run, But I'm a little older and have a wife and family, Why don't you take baby steps as you head in to it? I wish you luck, If you had the question of where to go, there are plenty here that will tell you to go here or there or whatever, but where ever you go stay there, as long as the checks are still good stay there at least a year. After a year come back and read this and see how your thinking has changed.

 

I was thinking about going to Prime Inc. To their school since they pay for everything and I have no money to take for food and such. Only enough for the fees. What other company sponsored CDL programs do ya'll reccomend?

 

The whole how much can I make is an unanswerable question. It all depends on how well you mesh at the company you are with. I have seen a dispatcher leave and the driver that thought life was good now thinks it sucks and vise versa. It has nothing to do with being a suck up mostly with how well you do your job but not completely. Like minded people generally hit it off and that goes a long way, to where if they say well he is alright guy nothing against him does his job. Then another driver calls and dispatchers says hey buddy whats up. Who gets the better paying load, into a better paying out going lane?
I see the thinking behind your reasoning, but who knows till you you hook up and do it.

 

it depends on the driver themselves too on how much they will make, a lot of drivers think going out the gate they will get 3k+ miles a week, top pay, stay out for months at a time but then a short time later you will find the topics "my check was only $200, this company sucks" etc etc.

I was the same, just being away from home for a month at a time was hard especially since I have a wife and kids. Now I get home once a week but still would love to be home nightly and thats my plan soon when I move in a couple months.

 

There are many factors that you cannot control. But do not count on making more then 45,000 your first year. You will find that the miles that you need to make the bigger bucks sometimes just don't go your way. Office politics seems to take over at some point. I have seen lots of times when you could have gotten a bonus if you only had run a few hundred miles more.

Of course, you could buy a Powerball ticket in Texas and win millions.
