Ok so I flunked out of orientation, does this mean that no 1 else will hire me?

So I went to Schneider orientation and that was quite the intense experience. They were all very nice people and extremely professional. I can honestly say that my TE tried to help me but there were also other students that needed help and when it came time to test I wasn't to the caliber that they needed when it came to alley docking. So does this mean that I am now not going to be able to be hired by another company? If so, what are your suggestions for a company that has more one on one time on the road? ( I live in the NE FL area.) Also, when doing a phone interview and this subject comes up what is a tactful way to discuss this with a recruiter. Tough loss if they did not hire you not a bad thing just means there is a better company to work for the whole alley docking practice practice makes perfect oh well there loss on a great employee good luck

 

If your skills are lacking because of a lack of training, some companies will hire you, some won't. I will speak of my company Prime INC. We do training from front to back, taking you from getting your CDL permit to passing your tests to maneuvering and hands on tests for your license. After that you spend 8-12 weeks with a trainer where you gain confidence and hone your skills to prepare you for driving solo. If you are accepted by Prime I would expect that they require you to go through the whole process, which would be good for you. Read more @

How do you flunk out of orientation....did you fail a drug screen, have a felony conviction, or have problems with another student. You should'nt flunk out of school for not being able to back up at least not during orientation....Was this during a final skills test for your permit or for your CDL?

 

He can't drive.. Said he had problems backing.

 

I read that part.....the trouble backing. But this is orientation...how did he get out of school without learning how to back? And how did he get a CDL , hard to pass the test if you can't hit a dock.....

 

Sometimes even experienced drivers will have an off day backing and docking. If you read enough onTTR, or have been at truckstops for awhile, it is fun watching drivers trying to get into parking spots when the lots are even half full, it is like watching a comedy or tragedy on occasions.

Do they not give you another chance to repeat the test. I read on someones post before that they had to go home for a week and come back and redo the test at whatever company it was they were with.

 

That's not enough to get you fired. Schneider hires and trains student drivers, so if you have some rough edges it shouldn't have been a big deal..........
































Unless you lied on your application stating you had years and years of experience and you still couldn't drive.

 

We all have those days...and it always happens when the lot is full of spectators too.

 

Some days you're the worst of the best and that can't stand out if they were looking to cut someone for whatever reason....
