is there a good site for getting maps to assist in the route planning, that covers hazmat if needed. I can't really dish out the doe needed for the Truckers GPS atm. so I figuered there's got to be a mapquest for truckers out there, anyone?
Google truckmiles... It will give you a good practical route but the interface is not very good. You can also set the preferred roads in MS Streets and Trips to where it will almost always route you on major roads and interstates. Still check either route with an atlas
