Along with the higher pay rates comes a higher cost of living (housing). The grass may/may not be greener half way across the country...especially for unskilled labor.

Ya I'm originally from Edmonton and I know all to well the pitfalls of moving to BOOM areas. The cost of living in Saskatchewan in terms of housing is still not to bad.Unlike Fort McMuddy where housing cost is nuts. At any rate I still can't seem to find any actual Pay Rates??

i live in saskatchewan and work in lloydminster, ab. if $16.00 an hour is good pay for a classs 1 driver, then come on out here. people are real cheap around here. not saying all the province is like this but the northern parts are.

Ok first off I can get $16.00 an hour anywhere , I made that money back in 1989 so that's the problem. Truckers haven't had a raise in over 20 years due to (deregulation) thanks to our wonderful government, and please before all of you who are doing great don't respond here...you are the exception...not the rule.
As for jobs here in Brampton and the GTA ya there a dime a dozen. They all pay ridiculously low 20 year old rates like $16.00 dollars an hour ,which you cannot support a family on , at least not with any sort of respectable quality of living.
Also the last couple of years here in the GTA a whole new bunch of scammers have came onto the scene. They hire drivers and blatantly rip them off. This happened to me last December doing a dedicated run to Montreal,,,Long story short I'm still looking for that a-hole.

Where is Hoffa when we need him most.

Can't speak for saskatchewan but here in northern Alberta, I pay $30/hr (+bonuses), room & board provided (in camp) but the work is seasonal. My brother pays (starting) @ $27/hour + an extra hour each day, OT after 9 and is always looking for drivers. You will likely hear about the $50/hr oil field wages but that is usually reserved for good, experienced winch truck operators and the like.
