Hi, I just had a dot audit. The truck oos is causing me trouble. I have provided dot with several pages of documentation but they keep telling me not good enough. I have tried calling them several times to get some assistance but not go. Can anyone give me an idea of what they need to upgrade my rating to satisfactory?

Won't happen overnight. Need a plan in place to prevent future OOS and then request another audit in 3-6 months.

There are so many companies that should be placed oos but are'nt because they're too much for the DOT to do audits but they go after one driver instead because that's all these lazy DOT can handle.

If there are enough violations to warrant a conditional rating how is that picking on the small guy?

They are. Takes a lot of violations(or a few blatant ones)to get a conditional. They base of a % checked.

Exactly, takes alot. How many violations does it take for the small guy.Companies out there are way over their limit but yet they're still operating because DOT is more worried about getting driver after driver and go after the companies when they find time out of their precious schedule. What do you mean by %check?

You would have a hard time finding a carrier with 50 trucks or more that have not had one or more compliance review's. Yet you can easily find a one truck company or very small carriers that have never had one.

The violations are based on a % of what is checked. Doesn't matter, large or small. Review logs for driver and have 20% violations is the same as checking 100 drivers and finding 20%.

In a compliance review most maintainence violations come from not being able to show that repairs were made after being wrote up at a scale.

I have submitted a plan, but they say that is not good enough. I am not sure what they want on the plan. Any ideas?
