Whatever the company you are working for tells you to. I worked for one outfit, (for a very short time,) that if you had something rejected for whatever reason, they expected the driver to sell it beside the road. Obviously this can cause the driver all kinds of problems. We were hauling meat and produce, so if the load was rejected, there was usually a good reason for it. Local government agencies don't take too well to folks peddling in their jurisdictions without the proper business licenses. And places don't take to well to folks peddling without collecting and paying sales taxes. And so on. . . There are companies that will take certain types of rejected freight and wholesale it out. I don't know of any in particular, but I do know there is one in SLC, and I'm sure in most other metropolitan areas.
