Not sure if this is new news to you guys or not. But I live in Atlanta and have friends and family that live north of Atl. Well just to let you guys know, as I'm not sure how it'll effect the routes around Atlanta. But they have started work(actually started a couple months ago) on the outer perimeter of Atlanta. From what I've seen/heard it's going to run somewhere along hwy 92 across 41 through emerson and go to rome (which rocks cause i hate the drive from cartersville to rome). I'm not sure where the other parts are going to run, but it looks like it'll keep a lot of people from going all the way down 75 to Atlanta just to go back up 85 and such. just thought you guys would like to know. I just found a link in Wikipedia all about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Arc
omg that is AWESOME!!!!!! 285 has become the demolition derby of modern trafic jams.. thank goodness GaDOT is as good as they are!!!(ever notice how some stretch of highways is ALWAYS under construction yet, there doesnt seem to be much in the way of extremely worn down pavement?? I LOVE GaDOT!!!! now if only NCDOT would get on the ball like that, if i remember right, GA has one of the lowest fuel taxes yet has a seriously strong view on preventive maint!! somethin we could all learn from!!)
