Well a couple years ago I failed my backing test with central refriderated and they sent me packing. I didn't give up I took a refresher course and went to swift. 3 weeks with an ### hole trainer from ocala fl. His truck went in the shop and I got a new trainer 3 weeks with him no problems. I passed my road test and I am now solo. Feels great. From day one they have been consistently giving me miles. I had to turn down a load from NC to Tijuana Mexico 2500 miles. I'm too new to be driving there. And now my home terminal in PA has a 14/7 program. 14 days out home 7. Awesome. I would like to have an inverter but I don't know how to install one. Can somone help me with this. I'm driving a volvo
You probably wouldn't have actually been going into Mexico - you'd have dropped it at the border, and Trans-Mex would've picked it up. The only inverters Swift allows are the kind which plug into the 12v outlets. If you install an inverter improperly, you could end up causing electrical system failure, or even a truck fire. When the mechanics see it, they will remove it. I had the little Cobra inverter I bought for something like $30. Plugged it into the 12v outlet in the TV compartment, and never had a problem with it.
Swift will not be sending you into Mexico but it will just show the final on the preplan. Normally on the comments it will say to tcall it at one of the border terminals. If you do get an order like that again make sure you leave extra time to get the trailer inspected at a terminal. Any trailer you are dropping that is going to Mexico will need one, even if you are dropping at a different freight company and not just tcalling it.
When you're picking one up allow time for replacing all the missing stuff like lights, tires, licence plates, gladhands, etc, etc
You would have dropped that trailer in Otay Mesa.If you should ever drive a truck into Mexico, it would be easy, but the minute you drove back into the good ol' USA you would have been arrested on the spot. As for Converters, depending on what your needs are( for amperage) there are good ones that will let you plug into your cigarette lighter socket, and these can take most appliances without burning out a fuse.As far as hard wiring one, Swift tends to frown upon that.(at least they did back in '97) Im sorry to say that now you passed , Your only gonna get more experienced, one way or the other. Grat's to you.
