What are the general symptoms of a bad pilot bearing? How about input shaft bearing? C15 Cat 435 hp; Eaton Fuller 10 speed. Thanks guys!

Pilot bearing that is bad can cause a squeal when lifting off. Can also cause clutch to hang up. Input issues are more of a vibration under a load.

My pilot bearing seized up around 900K miles and the tip of the input shaft was wearing against the inner diameter of the pilot bearing. When i took it out it had about 3/32" worth of play.

I would get a grinding noise when I would release clutch.

The trans bearing of the input shaft is pretty forgiving. That was fine upon inspection.

Put in new pilot bearing, input shaft and clutch. Clutch was due anyway, had no more adjustment left in it. Resurfaced flywheel too.

This is a 3406C with Roadranger trans and Rockwell clutch. Basically same as what you got.
