Our instructor only gave us a brief explanation on how to blind side parallel park. I'm Struggling with it, and only have a few more chances to practice it before my dmv test. I will most likely be testing in a truck with a single drive axle.

I Found some youtube videos that I like, because they are very formulaic. My instructor did not give anywhere near the level of explanation in the videos, and we basically just rush through it without stopping.

I noticed the videos have double drive axles. Would this formulaic approach still work with a single drive axle?

It takes practice and more practice. You are learning don't frustrate yourself. We put to much pressure on ourselves try to keep it simple. To be honest some us know how to do things very well but we can't teach worth a lick(not saying that is your instructor's position). Keep at and learn from your mistakes. You will get it and what joy you will have.

@insipidtoast .... to answer your question, formulaic / theoretically, yes.... it will work with both single and double drives.

How do you know that's part of the test?Is that what your school told you?Yes I had to learn that kind of parking but it wasnt part of the testing.Anyway parallel parking does take skill and you're not going to learn it from watching videos. You need to get you man voice out and tell instructor to teach you.

When I got my CDL they had taken out alley docking and put in parallel parking.

That's stupid, alley dock is used a lot more then paralle parking.I've only had to use that parking twice and that was at rest areas on 80 heading west past Omaha.

Goes to show whoever made that policy doesn't know a thing about trucking.

In Florida it'ss random as to what you get tested on. You will do straight line and either offset left or right but parallel sight or blind or alley dock is just luck of the draw.
